Just 7-minutes from Hnry Stadium, Frankie’s Bar + Eatery is Thorndon’s go-to local for drinks, dining, and good company. From pre-match catch-ups and after-work drinks to Wednesday Quiz Nights and relaxed meals with friends and family, Frankie’s brings people together for every occasion. Casual walk-ins are always welcome, although larger groups are encouraged to call ahead, particularly on quiz nights and event days.

Frankie’s Bar + Eatery sits in the heart of Thorndon and was built around a simple idea: to create a place the community could call its own.

Some nights, that means a full house buzzing with excitement as fans gather before a Hurricanes game at Hnry Stadium. Other nights, it's quiz teams huddled around tables, competing for bragging rights and a spot on the leaderboard. Most nights, it's simply locals dropping in for a beer and a meal after work, because that's what good local bars are for.

You don't need a special occasion to come to Frankie’s. That's the whole point.

  • Frankie's is located at 24 Hawkestone St, Thorndon, Wellington, an easy walk from the CBD and a shortdrive from Hnry Stadium. Street parking is available nearby, and the location makes it a convenient meeting point whether you're coming from work, home or a stadium event.

  • Frankie’s Bar & Eatery is open 7 days a week, including public holidays.  
    Please note that a 15% surcharge applies on public holidays.

    • Breakfast: 6:30am – 10am 

    • Lunch: 12pm – 2:30pm 

    • Dinner: 5:30pm – 9pm 

    • Happy Hour: 4pm – 6pm 

  • About a 7-minute drive or 5-minute walk, making it a convenient stop before or after events.

  • A brasserie-inspired menu where timeless classics meet modern flair. Enjoy in perfectly seared steaks, ocean-fresh seafood, handmade pastas, vibrant salads, and seasonal specialties crafted to delight every palate.

  • Yes, Frankie’s offers a range of vegetarian and vegan options. Please let our team know if you have any allergies or dietary requirements when placing your order, and we’ll be happy to look after you.

  • Our kitchen team can accommodate most dietary requirements. Please let us know at the time of booking if you have dietary requirements.

  • Unfortunately, we are unable to allow guests to bring their own alcohol, as our current liquor license does not permit BYO service. All beverages must be purchased and consumed on-site in accordance with our licensing requirements. 

  • Unfortunately, we are unable to offer full private hire of the Frankie’s Bar & Eatery, as the space is also available to our in-house and outside guests. However, we can accommodate groups within the restaurant and can reserve a suitable section. Please note that while we will do our best to ensure comfort, other guests will be present in the restaurant, and the use of private music systems, microphones, or similar equipment will not be permitted.
