LOCATION & TRANSPORTATION  

  • The hotel is located at 24 Hawkestone St in Wellington CBD, only a 4-minute drive from the Beehive and a 10 minute walk to Lambton Quay.

  • We are located approximately 15 minutes’ drive (8.8km) from Wellington Airport, an 8 minutes’ drive (3km) from the Wellington CBD, and an 8 minutes’ drive (3.4km) from 

  • No we do not have a dedicated airport shuttle, but we’ll be happy to point you toward the best transport options to get you here with ease. 

  • WQ Hotel offers on-site parking at $28 per vehicle. Additional charges apply after 12 pm on the day of checkout.  An Ev Charging is available for guest use at $15 per day. Please see reception for more details. Please note that parking spaces are limited and cannot be pre-booked. Parking is on a first-come, first-served basis. 

FACILITIES & AMENITIES 

  • Unfortunately, pets and support animals are not permitted. Certified assistance dogs are welcome by prior arrangement. 

  • Yes! Bring the whole family to WQ Hotel. Children of all ages are welcome. For children 0 - 2 years, porta cots are available at no additional charge but are subject to availability at the time of booking. Children 3-13 years are free, using existing bedding. We offer a children's menu in our restaurant. 

  • Yes, we have interconnecting rooms within the ‘Classic’ category. Please contact us to secure interconnecting rooms for your stay. Subject to availability.  We also have Family Rooms which are perfect for up to two adults and two children.

  • Some of our rooms can accommodate a single rollaway bed, available for NZ$35 per room, per night. As we have limited rollaway beds, we recommend contacting the team directly to check availability and add it to your booking. 

  • No. We are a non-smoking and non-vaping hotel, with a $200 cleaning fee applied if guests smoke/vape in the rooms.  

  • No, however we offer complimentary gym access to WQ Hotel guests at City Fitness Thorndon, a 7-minute walk from the hotel at 75 Thorndon Quay. Please present your room key upon arrival. City Fitness Thorndon is open from 7am – 7pm on the weekdays and 8am – 4pm on the weekends.

    Our onsite restaurant serves breakfast, lunch, and dinner offering a delectable escape from the boring and bland with a brasserie-style menu. Our onsite bar is the perfect spot for light nibbles, after-work drinks, a catch-up with friends or a night cap with colleagues. With a penchant for locally sourced drinks, this garden-to-glass bar offers signature craft cocktails, regional beers and sustainable wines. 

    • Guest Laundry

    Accessible 24/7 on Level B with your room key. Wash cycles start from $4. 

    • Meetings & Events

    From boardrooms meetings to year-end celebrations, the versatile meeting and conference venues at WQ Hotel cater to a wide range of needs. Contact us at events@wqhotel.co.nz for more details. 

    • EV Charging Station

    An EV charging station is available at $15 per vehicle, per charge.  Please note that it cannot be pre-booked and is available on a first-come, first-served basis. 

    • Bicycles are available for guest use so you can explore the Creative Capital using pedal power alone!

BOOKING & ARRIVAL INFORMATION

  • Our Fully Flexible rate gives you the freedom to cancel your reservation up to 24 hours one day prior to arrival with no cancellation fee. Additional terms and conditions may apply for cancellation of advance purchase or prepaid individual rooms, group and conference & event bookings and are subject to special event block out dates. Cancellation terms may also vary for certain special offers. Please check your booking confirmation email for details. If you have booked through Booking.com, Expedia or another third party booking website please refer to their booking terms and conditions.

  • Yes, a valid photo ID is required at check-in for security purposes. Acceptable forms of photo ID include a New Zealand passport, a New Zealand driver license, a Kiwi Access Card, an NZ Certificate of Identity, or a valid overseas passport. 

  • Yes. Guests must be at least 18 years old to check in. Those under 18 are welcome when accompanied by a parent or legal guardian. 

  • Yes. A deposit is required on arrival and will be collected by credit card, cash is not a suitable payment form. The deposit is fully refundable at check-out, provided the room passes a standard inspection. Refunds are processed back to the same credit card used at check-in. 

  • Payments can be made by EFTPOS, Visa, Mastercard, or American Express. A 2% surcharge applies to Visa and Mastercard payments, while American Express incurs a 3.5% surcharge. Please note that we do not accept cash payments. 

  • Absolutely! If you arrive before your room is ready, we’ll be happy to look after your luggage. We can also store it on your departure day, so you’re free to explore Wellington without a worry. There is no charge for luggage stored for less than 12 hours.

EATING & DRINKING AT WQ

  • Yes, Frankie’s Eatery & Bar is located on the ground floor and serves breakfast, lunch, and dinner. 

  • Frankie’s Bar & Eatery is open 7 days a week, including public holidays.  Please note, a 15% surcharge applies on public holidays

    • Breakfast: 6:30am – 10am 

    • Lunch: 12pm – 2:30pm 

    • Dinner: 5:30pm – 9pm 

    • Happy Hour: 4pm – 6pm 

  • Yes! Room Service is available from 11am – 9pm.  

    • Dinner Menu: 5:30pm – 9pm 

    • All Day Menu: 11am – 9pm 

     To order room service, dial ‘Restaurant’ on your in-room phone. Please note that a $6 tray charge applies to all orders. 

  • Yes, Frankie’s Eatery offers a range of vegetarian and vegan options. Please let our team know if you have any allergies or dietary requirements when placing your order, and we’ll be happy to look after you. 

  • We don’t offer dining discounts for children, but our menu has a variety of options that little travellers tend to love. Our team will be happy to help recommend the best picks. 

  • Unfortunately, we are unable to allow guests to bring their own alcohol, as our current liquor license does not permit BYO service. All beverages must be purchased and consumed on-site in accordance with our licensing requirements. 

  • To arrange a group booking, please email us at dine@wqhotel.co.nz or use the form on our booking page to send us your details. Our team will respond promptly to discuss your needs and finalize the details. We look forward to making your event special at Frankie’s Bar & Eatery! 

  • Unfortunately, we are unable to offer full private hire of the Frankie’s Bar & Eatery, as the space is also available to our in-house and outside guests. However, we can accommodate groups within the restaurant and can reserve a suitable section. Please note that while we will do our best to ensure comfort, other guests will be present in the restaurant, and the use of private music systems, microphones, or similar equipment will not be permitted. 

  • Our kitchen team can accommodate most dietary requirements. Please let us know at the time of booking if you have dietary requirements

MEETINGS & EVENTS 

  • Yes, we offer on-site meeting and event spaces designed to accommodate both corporate and social gatherings. These versatile venues are ideal for events ranging from intimate meetings to larger celebrations.  Head to the Venues page for more information, we can cater for up to 150 guests.
